Storefront in South Lake Union
My Storefronts installation was composed of works on paper that use the image of scaffolding and abstract structures to reflect the rapid development that surrounds me in Seattle (particularly South Lake Union). They were also about the layers of geological history embedded in the land that I live on and in the water that surrounds me. Seattle is built upon unstable terrain - on at least two fault lines and the ring of fire. The work also explores the idea of an imagined invisible scaffolding that holds up the universe, and an intangible essence that flows between the more familiar structures of the visible world.
